You are buying 1 (One) Collector Quality, Pietersite Crystal Tumbled Stone from Namibia that is from the batch of stones pictured. This rare lot is so pretty, with rich, deep chatoyant colors (mostly shades of gold and rich rust with a few stones showing hints of blue). Pietersite is very expensive to acquire so this listing is by weight and sizes are approximate as each is slightly different).
Sizes:
Small = Approx 4 - 7 gm (.50" - .70")
Medium = Approx 8 - 11 gm (.75" - .95")
Large = Approx 12 - 15 gm (.95" - 1.1")
XLarge = Approx 16 - 22 gm (1.0" - 1.2"
Stones are tumbled smooth and may have very small semi-rough areas as these stones are not overly processed to preserve as much material as possible. Very pretty in every case!
They are the perfect size for crafting or wearing in a wire cage pendant (see my other listings). Pietersite is a very unusual, beautiful and somewhat difficult to find crystal, as most shops don't carry it and very few people have heard of it, so it tends to be very pricey. It was only discovered and named in 1962 so there is not much historical data around it. If I had to go to that proverbial desert island with only one crystal, Pietersite would be the one! I created this listing so that an affordable, yet high quality Pietersite would be available to everyone.
The appearance of Pietersite is an intriguing combination of swirling masses of golden brown (sometimes with a hint of blue) that have a chatoyant (shimmering) effect. CHATOYANCY, or CHATOYANCE, is the appearance of a bright, subtly changing shimmer of color which moves along the surface of a gemstone as it is viewed from different angles. The color bands are folded and mixed rather than layered so that light plays into luminous patterns that are mesmerizing!
Metaphysically, Pietersite is classified as an "Acension Stone" as it unlocks the keys to a heightened state of spiritual awareness so it is ideal for meditation or movement practices such as Yoga and Tai Chi, for shamanic journeys and past life work. I personally use it as a meditation stone and a healing crystal for many conditions. Its highest gift is the reminder and realization that we, as human beings are Spirit Beings journeying in a human experience. This realization changes everything in one's search for Truth.
