Most of these stones are on the opaque side, a few are semi-translucent but they are all very pretty! They can be used in massage, layouts and grids. Do not soak Kyanite in water because its layered structure could be damaged. If you feel it does need cleaning, then gently wipe off with a damp cloth or place it on a clear quartz cluster.Blue Kyanite is one of the very best stones for the throat chakra and the mind. This rare lot is so pretty, with rich, deep chatoyant blue/ rust/red and gold colors with marbled patterns. Each stone contains some Blue which is the most unique thing about Pietersite and each has a brilliant chatoyancy which shimmers. Very pretty in every case!Pietersite is a very unusual, beautiful and somewhat difficult to find crystal, as most shops don't carry it and very few people have heard of it, so it tends to be very pricey. It was only discovered and named in 1962 so there is not much historical data around it. If I had to go to that proverbial desert island with only one crystal, Pietersite would be the one! The appearance of Pietersite is an intriguing combination of swirling masses of golden brown (sometimes with swirls of gold and blue) that have a chatoyant (shimmering) effect. CHATOYANCY, or CHATOYANCE, is the appearance of a bright, subtly changing shimmer of color which moves along the surface of a gemstone as it is viewed from different angles.
