Orthoclase, or K-spar, is a common potassium feldspar mineral found in granite, pegmatites, and as a component of Moonstone. Typically beige-grey or light brown, it can also be white, pink, or red. Discovered in 1801, its name comes from its unique right-angle cleavage. Major deposits are in Russia, Tanzania, Spain, and the U.S. The largest crystal found was over 30 feet long and weighed over 100 tons.
Orthoclase is widely used in ceramics, tiles, glass, and scouring powder due to its abundance and low cost. It has also been found on the Moon and Mars, sparking interest in its role in planetary geology.
Energetically, Orthoclase promotes emotional grounding, clarity, and personal growth. It protects against negative energies, helping transform challenges into opportunities for growth and happiness.
