The are polished only one side so you can see inside the stone. The back and sides are a semi-rough, frosted white color while the polished front "window" is a clear, sparkling window into the interior.
Very very pretty and a wonderful everyday stone that you use exactly as regular quartz. Seer stone is especially suited for gazing, meditation and scrying.
