Clear Quartz is known across crystal traditions as the "Master Healer" — the stone people reach for when they want to amplify intention, clarify focus, or support the work of another crystal. Its ability to work alongside virtually any other stone, and to take on and echo a focused intention, is why it holds a place in nearly every practice. Pure crystalline silica (SiO₂, Mohs 7), it forms in trigonal symmetry from hexagonal prisms and is one of the most abundant minerals on Earth. That abundance is part of why we're careful about what we stock: not all "clear quartz" sold is the real thing.

Living with the stone
How to use Clear Quartz
In crystal tradition, clear quartz is the stone most people program with an intention — they hold it, settle their mind on a goal or focus, and carry or place it where that focus needs reinforcing. A point is the shape most often used for this: the termination is traditionally understood to direct energy outward, which is why you'll see points placed at the outer edges of a crystal grid to move energy between stones, or on a desk to hold a work intention during the day.
Meditation is the other common use. Hold a point or tumbled piece in one hand and simply let it anchor your attention. Many people place a piece at the crown of the head during a lying-down practice; in tradition this is thought to open and clarify the upper energy centers. The quartz does not need to be large — a tumbled stone fits naturally in the palm and travels easily.
For the home, clusters work well in shared spaces. A cluster radiates in many directions at once rather than pointing toward a single focus, which is why they're often placed in living areas rather than on a personal altar. Some practitioners keep a small piece near electronics, though we'd say the stronger argument for it there is simply the visual reminder of intention in a busy space.
We also carry clear quartz in wand and sphere forms for those who do hands-on energy work — wands for directed work, spheres for broadcasting energy evenly in all directions.
Pairings
Crystal combinations
Clear quartz's role in crystal tradition is to amplify — so almost any stone you pair it with will feel more pronounced in focus and presence. That makes it less about which crystals it "goes with" and more about which quality you want to turn up.
Paired with amethyst, it is traditionally used to deepen calm and introspective clarity. With rose quartz, the combination is oriented toward compassion and emotional steadiness. Selenite and clear quartz together are a cleansing pair — both are used in tradition to clear stagnant energy, and the two together are often placed at the entryway or on a nightstand for that purpose. For someone who wants grounding alongside amplified intention, black tourmaline alongside clear quartz is the classic pairing: the tourmaline anchors; the quartz magnifies. Labradorite with clear quartz is favored by those drawn to intuitive or spiritual exploration — labradorite for the inner journey, quartz to hold and strengthen the focus.
There are no known physical or metaphysical contraindications to combining clear quartz with other stones. The practical guidance we'd offer is simply this: the more stones you add, the more specific your intention should be, so the quartz knows what it is amplifying.
Keep it well
Care & cleansing
Clear quartz is one of the more forgiving stones to care for. At Mohs 7 it is scratch-resistant and stands up to everyday handling. A cool rinse under running water is the simplest cleanse — quartz is water-safe, though we'd recommend skipping prolonged soaking for raw or heavily fractured pieces, as water can work into existing cracks over time. A minute under the tap and a gentle pat dry is all that's needed.
Unlike many colored stones, clear quartz will not fade in sunlight. It is genuinely sun-safe, which makes direct sunlight one of the easiest ways to both cleanse and charge it. Leave it on a bright windowsill for a few hours and it's ready. Full moonlight works equally well for those who prefer it — it's the traditional choice and the gentler of the two.
For smoke cleansing, pass the stone slowly through the smoke of sage, palo santo, cedar, or any herb you work with. Sound works well too: a singing bowl, tuning fork, or bells held near the stone will do the job. If you own a selenite plate or a larger clear quartz cluster, resting smaller pieces on or near them overnight is another approach people use for charging.
Clear quartz does not require special storage. Keep it away from harder materials that could scratch it, and give polished pieces a cloth wipe if they pick up fingerprints — that is the extent of routine maintenance.

Buying guide
Clear quartz is one of the crystals where knowing what you're looking at matters, because the market for cheap "clear quartz" spheres and points is flooded with glass. We want you to be able to tell the difference whether you're shopping with us or anywhere else.
Glass and quartz can look nearly identical at first glance. The tells: glass often contains small, perfectly round air bubbles — natural quartz almost never does, and when quartz does contain inclusions they are typically wispy veils, fluid inclusions, or natural fractures with an irregular, flowing shape. Glass also feels warmer against the skin; quartz stays noticeably cooler because it conducts heat away from the body. A piece that looks immaculate — flawlessly clear, no internal structure at all — is more likely to be glass than quartz. Real clear quartz almost always has some evidence of its growth: fine striations along the faces of a point, faint inclusions, or the characteristic triangular etchings called "record keepers" on the facets.
When choosing a form, natural points work well for directional use and meditation. Tumbled stones are the easiest to carry and to hold. Clusters radiate in multiple directions and tend to be used as room or altar pieces rather than personal stones. Raw chunks fall somewhere between — they carry the same properties and are generally the most affordable entry point.
Reconstituted quartz is another thing to know about: it is genuine quartz that has been crushed, melted down, and reformed — sometimes with dyes added. It lacks the internal growth structures of natural quartz and is not the same as a natural stone, though it is sometimes sold as one. Natural growth patterns, inclusions, and surface striations are your best evidence you're holding the real thing.

Questions about Clear Quartz
What is clear quartz used for?
Often called the "master healer," clear quartz is traditionally valued for amplifying intention and clarity, and for working alongside other stones. Many use it in meditation or pair it with another crystal to support a chosen focus.
Is clear quartz safe in water?
Yes — as a quartz (Mohs 7) it tolerates a cool rinse well. As with any stone, skip prolonged soaking for raw or fractured pieces.
How do I cleanse and "program" clear quartz?
Cleanse it with moonlight, smoke, sound, or a brief rinse. To set an intention, hold it, take a breath, and bring your focus to mind — in tradition this is called programming, and clear quartz is the stone most often used for it.
How can I tell real clear quartz from glass?
Natural quartz often holds tiny internal veils, fractures, or inclusions and feels cool to the touch; flawless "crystals" with round air bubbles inside are usually glass. We only sell genuine, quality-verified quartz.
Why is clear quartz called the master healer and master manifestor?
In the crystal tradition clear quartz earns the "master" nickname because it is seen as the most versatile and amplifying of stones. It is believed to magnify intention and to take on, hold, and echo a focus you set — which is why people reach for it to "program" a goal, pair it with another crystal to strengthen that stone's quality, or anchor the center of a crystal grid. Energetically clear and adaptable, it is the all-purpose stone many keep on hand for meditation, manifestation work, and amplifying any intention.
