Talking points

If you're talking to friends, posting in your own words, or being asked what's going on — these are the five facts that matter most. Use any of them, in your own voice. Specifics beat polish every time.

  1. Bliss Crystals is a 24-year mother-daughter family business. Jan Mathews opened the first shop in Manhattan in 2002 after 9/11. Her daughter Jillian came home from England to help. They built Bliss Crystals together in California in 2010 and opened a larger Winchester Rd Showroom outside the Promenade Mall in 2023.
  2. Both founders passed inside 14 months. Jan in March 2025 (metastatic breast cancer). Her stepfather Dick — also the company's CFO — in January 2026. They were the ones holding the financial side of the business together for Jillian, who is the surviving operator.
  3. The business itself is still healthy. ~$570,000 in annual revenue, daily foot traffic, weekly live shows, an active subscription program, ethical sourcing from miners on five continents (India, Brazil, Peru, Mexico, Russia, Madagascar, South Africa, Japan, China, Europe), and 150,000+ five-star sales over the partnership's run. The doors are still open daily, 11am–7pm. The current operational gap: the overhead at the 2023 Winchester Rd showroom is greater than current revenue — the campaign is to close that gap, not pay down legacy debt.
  4. The community campaign goal: $30,000 by Mother's Day — a short-term bridge to stabilize while we rebuild. The longer-term plan is community-funded: monthly subscription boxes ($39 Essentials / $79 Elevated) are the most sustainable way for supporters to keep us open without a one-time donation.
  5. The ask isn't only money. Sharing the campaign with one person, attending a live show, walking into the store, subscribing, or putting up a small Bliss Ambassador post in your community — all of it counts. The single biggest variable in this campaign is reach, not average gift size.
