Help Keep Bliss Crystals Alive
After losing both founders in 14 months, the family business my mom and I built together needs the community we’ve served to help us bridge through to recovery.
Born from 9/11
Bliss Crystals was born out of the work my Mom and I started together back in 2002, when she opened the landmark New-Age store East West Books on 5th Avenue in NYC. We added a yoga studio, art gallery, and vegan café to this vibrant spiritual hub. It was so important to my Mom to provide this healing space in the wake of 9/11 to help a grieving New York City heal.
“These stones could guide people through their darkest hours.”
— Mama Jan Mathews, founder · in loving memory
From New York healing to a Temecula family business
We eventually moved back to California where, in 2010, my Mom and I founded Bliss Crystals — a dedicated crystal shop with gemstones, jewelry, and healing tools. From a top-ranked Etsy shop to our beautiful Temecula sanctuary (current showroom opened 2023), we have dedicated our lives to providing ethically sourced crystals and a safe space for spiritual connection. My mother believed these stones could guide people through their darkest hours — a mission I am now honored to carry forward as President.
Two losses. One mission to keep going.
In March 2025, I lost my mother and mentor, Mama Jan, and less than a year later, my stepfather—her beloved husband of 39 years and our CFO—passed away as well. Losing both founders while managing the debt from opening our new showroom has created a financial storm we simply cannot weather alone.
We have the inventory, the dedicated staff, and a clear vision, but we need immediate community support to bridge this gap. My mom spent her life helping others find peace; now, I believe the community we served will show up for us in that same spirit.

Directly to the operating costs that keep our sanctuary alive: rent at our Temecula showroom, payroll for our retail and healing team, and inventory stocked for peak season. There is no overhead skim — this is a community bridge fund.
No. Bliss Crystals, Inc. is a for-profit California corporation, not a 501(c)(3). Your contribution is a personal gift to keep us open — the same way you might support a neighborhood bookstore or local restaurant you love.
This fund bridges us through the immediate gap left by losing both founders. In parallel we’re restructuring debt, launching the Bliss Box Monthly subscription for recurring revenue, and preparing a Phase 2 Indiegogo campaign with reward tiers. The goal is a sustainable Bliss, not life support.
Not from GoFundMe — that’s pure donation. Phase 2 launches on Indiegogo and will offer tiered rewards: handpicked tumbled stones, signed cards from Jillian, Museum Bar specimens, and more. Get notified when it goes live.
Yes — and the free options matter more than you’d think. A single share, a Google review, or a letter to your local paper reaches people we can’t. See twelve ways to help, including ones that take 30 seconds and cost nothing.
Every dollar still goes to operations. The goal is what we need to bridge through to recovery in full — but partial funding still buys us time, and time is exactly what we need.
Thank you for getting this far
If you can chip in, even $25 from a few hundred of us is what bridges the gap. If you can’t, sharing this page with one person who can means just as much.
